Sherwood Shield 2017

Chesterfield are now on a winning roll and came out winners in this Mercia competition winning 5 out of the 6 games on the final day. We are definitely making our mark on the Mercia region.

Mercia Sherwood Shield/Winter League 2016/7

Congratulations to the team who played at Worksop Arena on 29th January and, having started in 4th place finished up in the final and 2nd place to Mansfield. Thanks also go to any other players who took part during the tournament. Chesterfield PC came 4th in the Winter League doubles part of this combined competition.

Singles - 3rd September

Chesterfield Petanque Club also had a good day, despite it being quite blowy and cold at Holmebrook Park. No rain until after the play had finished. We played four timed games of 30mins each + one more end. Congratulations to Tim, winning all 4 of his games. Congratulations also to Michael Stilts who won "Most Improved Player" for 2017. Presented by Dick who donated the Trophy to the club. Results: Tim,  4 wins  +33 points. Alan 4 wins & +31 points Ian 4 wins & +25 points David Sheppard 3 wins & +8 points 2 wins:- Carla +3. Best Lady David Shaw +2 Carole +1 Brian Walker -5 Anne -7 1 win: Joyce O  -4 Dominic -9 Janine-11 David O -13 Rodney -15 Joyce W -16 Elaine -23. Winner of Lucazade We then enjoyed a bring and share in the pavilion where we announced the placings. As Ian said when he announced Michael as Most Improved Winner, "it was very hard to find an individual who has NOT improved their game this year & therefore selection for one individual was not an easy to find". A warm congratulations went to everyone who participated and a thank you to those that assisted with the preparation and food etc. Another great success.....

Pointing & Shooting Competition

A good day had by all with a very enjoyable bring and share lunch. As well as the prizewinners of the competitions, Tim was awarded ‘Star of the Year’ for his input to the club in so many ways.  Thanks to all those who competed and contributed to the organisation of the day and the lunch. Another wonderful and constructive day by the Chesterfield Petanque club. We had 20 entries making 10 teams. Mixed bunch but great fun. And the rain stayed away. There were three timed games of 45 minutes each with a last end and one more end only. Results Carole & Ian 3 wins   + 23 Margaret & Mo 3 wins + 20 David & Tony 2 wins, 1 loss +11 David & Joyce 2 wins, 1 loss - 6 Adrienne & David 2 wins, 1 loss - 5 Hilary & Robert 1 win,   2 loss - 1 Carla & Tim 1 win,   2 loss - 2 Anne & Dominic 1 win,   2 loss - 8 Michael & Trish 3 loss - 21 Joyce & Brian 3 loss - 27 We had a Bring & share lunch in the Pavilion after the event + prize giving of a Shield and a bottle of wine each to Carole & Ian + a medal each.
