Sunday, 9th September saw a part sunny, part breezy day but happily NO rain. Registration was at 9.30am with play commencing at 10.00am.Unfortunately two members turned up late for registration, hence we had to tweak the format to try and accommodate them. For future reference we must stress how important it is to register ON TIME.The format was four 30 minute games + finish the end and ONE more end only. We ended up with two players, Tony and Michael on 4 wins and 21 points each and Tony won the play off.Jill Butt was awarded the Most Improved Player Trophy.Full Results4 Wins1stTony +21 points2nd Michael +21 points3 Wins3rdIan+21 points4th David M S+11 points5th Tim+8 points2 Wins6thJean+9 pointsTOP LADY7th Jill+4 points7th Dominic+4 points1 Win9thDavid C-510thLinda-1311thBartosz -1911thDavid J-1913th Bill-2514th Mike H-26
Doubles Competition 2018
After a Very WET and disappointing Sunday 29th July scheduled competition it was agreed by the members to play on Friday evening th 3rd August - with a few tweaked rules to accommodate the limited time: •Nine teams, which meant that we had to have a BYE in each round. •( a BYE = a win and +4 points )•Three games of 40 minutes each and a final bell when all play must STOP and the points counted. Draws would be accepted rather than a play off. •Registration at 5.30, commencing play at 6.00pm. •No breaks in-between the games meant that we completed the competition by 8.30pm giving us time to de-assemble and clear the pistes before dark. The winners were Brian and Mike H, collecting the shield and a medal each, plus a bottle. Carla & Tim collected a box of chocs each. Well done everyone, including our helpers and time keepers. The player holding up the whole team (bottom) received a Mars Bar - for more energy. The ‘Star of the Year’ was presented by Brian & Margaret to Tina who was completely bowled over & shocked and then burst into tears when her name was called. They wanted to express their sincere thanks to someone who is not even a member of the club but gives her ALL when it comes to her time & energy at competitions and also supports the club when we play away games at other clubs. Congratulations TinaAfter our picnic we had a trial run of erecting the new gazebo.
